Training and facilitation: BBC

Over the last five years we have been asked by the BBC to design and deliver many forms of training and facilitation. We have worked right across the organisation, focusing on helping teams develop new thinking and creative processes for their own products and services.

Unthinkable has very broad experience of working across a wide range of different modes of digital delivery and that has meant we can be useful in lots of different contexts for the BBC. We listen carefully to the specific needs of each team, and try to design engaging experiences that will be fun, exploratory, trusting and open for the participants.

To give a sense of the range of the facilitation projects we have delivered at the BBC we have picked out four very different examples:

  • We worked with BBC News to help them consider their next wave of development for the news app by working directly with users as part of the BBC Fusion training programme.
  • We designed and delivered a major new training programme in multiplatform production that rolled out across TV and Radio production teams.
  • We also worked with the BBC Homepage and Search team to facilitate a service design process to help them consider the which features they should focus on, and to identify the best working methods to deliver them.
  • Most recently we worked as part of the BBC, Arts Council collaboration delivering sessions on digital commissioning for The Space and leading sessions on multiplatform production as part of the Building Digital Capacity for the Arts programme.
